when Shapiro says that he isn't going to deal any of the team's "good young pitching" if that means Bartola Colon? It certainly should. Shapiro has been saying how the team is going to put emphasis on pitching so trading your ace would certainly be going against what you are preaching. Of course it might be that Dolan isn't going to want to shell out the dollars for Bartola. You think???

Colon will be gone next year anyway so why not deal him this year? It would give the team that acquires him a year to come to terms on a new deal thus increasing his trade value.

If Bartolo is traded, there had better be a bidding war between interested teams.

Apart from the Yankees I can't think of one team that wouldn't go for Bartolo. Bidding war no doubt. Any contender would want him. Imagine the Dbacks with Bart at #3. Or the Sox with Martinez and Colon 1-2 punch. Or maybe some young hitting from the Rangers ? Whoa are the best prospects right now ?
Does anyone know if Bartolo likes Cleveland ? It's possible Cleveland could bid from him as FA in 2004 if the team improves in 2003 when the bum contracts end. (apart from Ricky G and Wohlers !)

In all honesty, I don't think Bartolo cares too much, but he probably wouldn't mind living in a more hispanic dominant community.
I am trying to think who has deep position player farm systems that would want Bartolo.

It's also a game of chicken. Could a team hold out for a year and a half and just bid on him rather then give up a ton of players and still have to pay him a bundle.
